ENGLISH

Our mountain hostel is situated in the Beskid Sądecki Mountains, in southern of Poland. Located at the height of 887 m above sea level, above the Wierchomla Village. The hostel marks a point on the blue trail crossing the territory of the Poprad Landscape Park. Polish and Slovak borders meet nearby on Poprad River.

The Refuge above Wierchomla opened in 1978. This small mountain hostel has been popular among tourists fond of active forms of holidays. There are ten hostels of this type in Polish mountains, usually run under the auspices of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society (PTTK). This one is a wooden two-storey building situated far from civilisation. It cannot be accessed directly by private cars, which must be left at the car park located 5 km downhill at the Wierchomla Mała Village or 6 km downhill at the Szczawnik Village.

The hostel is the venue of various events, such as hikers’ reunions; concerts of bands and bards of tourist songs and poetry; as well as a series of slide shows of Poland’s and world’s mountains.

The refuge is run by Małgosia Ryniewicz-Politańska & Marcin Bednarkiewicz.
